Shall Sinha, Ph.D.
Shall grew up in the district of Champaran, India, where Mahatma Gandhi applied his first major Satyagraha Movement in India (in 1917). Because of the miraculous relief from their decades of miseries, the poor people of that region believed that Gandhi was a reincarnation of God and Shall accepted that as a Gospel truth. Most of his schooling followed the educational curriculum advocated by Gandhi - which emphasized local self-reliance, brotherly love, cultivating the land, caring of the sick and the animals, conservation of resources, good hygiene habits etc. When Shall graduated from school, India was in the process of rapid industrialization and needed engineers. Shall took undergraduate engineering degree in India and Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Canada. Then, for about a dozen years he practiced engineering. But deep in his heart he felt a strong urge to live according to Gandhian philosophy. He had already been studying the life and work of Gandhi in all his spare moments, and finally, in 1985, he decided to dedicate his life to the study, practice and dissemination the Gandhian principle of Nonviolence and Peace.
Shall Sinha as Mahatma Gandhi Shall speaks on the Life and Work of Mahatma Gandhi, including the principle and practice of Nonviolence, Satyagraha, Sarvodaya (welfare of all) etc. His uniqueness lies in the fact that he presents all his talks in the Character of Mahatma Gandhi. He appears dressed exactly like Mahatma Gandhi - with bald-head, steel-frame glasses, home-spun loin clothes, tire-slippers and a bamboo walking stick. And he speaks in First Person, as if Gandhi himself had come to speak to the particular group on the particular occasion. Throughout the presentation he stays in Gandhi's character and talks on a topic related to the theme of the occasion. He draws all his supporting materials from Gandhi's actual life and tells what Gandhi did in a similar situations. This leaves the audience feeling good about themselves, strengthens their spirit and fills them with a zest for new challenges. He welcomes questions from the audience and gives the answers that Gandhi might give if he had been there personally. Shall Sinha as Mahatma Gandhi
